Instructions

The CPU is an electronic machine that works on a list of computer things to do, called instructions.

It reads the list of instructions and runs (executes) each one in order.

A list of instructions that a CPU can run is a computer program.

The instructions in a 32 bit CPU are good at handling data that is 32 bits in size (most instructions "think" in 32 bits in a 32 bit CPU).

Some had different word sizes for instructions and data.

The two principal characteristics of a computer are: It responds to a specific instruction set in a well defined manner and it can execute a prerecorded list of instructions call a program.

By contrast, software is instructions that can be stored and ran by hardware.

They consist of an arithmetic logic unit and processor registers, a control unit containing an instruction register and program counter, a memory to store both data and instructions, external mass storage, and input and output mechanisms.

Computer software, also called software, is a set of instructions and its documentations that tells a computer what to do or how to perform a task.

Software is a set of instructions that the computer follows.
